Workout Plateaued? Try Using Dumbbells
Doing dumbbells exercise is important if you want to build a solid well-proportioned physique. There is nothing better to help you build symmetry and to strengthen your core stabilizer muscles. When you use dumbbells you call into play these stabilizer muscles that will allow you to continually get stronger and in turn be able to lift more weight. If you aren’t using dumbbells then you are neglecting one of the best exercises for overall fitness and strength.
When I first started lifting weights my goal was to get as big and strong as possible. Since my meager beginnings I have somewhat changed my goals and my program to include more dumbbells exercise in my daily routine. I have even designed a program where I will only do dumbbells exercise for the whole workout. At first it can be frustrating because you are constantly battling to control the weight, especially when you are doing bench presses with the dumbbells. It is awkward at first because you have to learn to balance and control the dumbbells. You will want to have a spotter to help you when you first begin to eliminate injury and to get your body memory in sync with the new dumbbell exercises.
When you first begin to do dumbbells exercise you must start out with lighter weights. It will take time for your muscle memory to be enacted. Once you have started using dumbbells you will begin to notice it gets easier with each workout. You still will not be able to lift the same amount as you would with a barbell because you are isolating the muscle more with The dumbbells exercise. The reason that you want to isolate the muscle group with the dumbbells is to increase your overall strength. Overall strength translates to overall body mass and symmetry.
If you are right handed then generally your right hand will be stronger than the left because you use that hand much more than the weaker hand. By implementing a dumbells exercise program you begin to strengthen the less dominant hand or body part. The results will be great in terms of symmetry and overall physique.
Just like most things you have to be patient and allow the dumbbells exercise program time to work. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the same is with a great looking body. If you are serious about getting into shape and looking your best then give it some time. If you have to keep using light weights because you are having trouble balancing then so be it. The end results are what matter and not how long it took you to get there.
