What Can I Do To Lose Weight?
Unfortunately there is no magic answer to weight control. If you are overweight it usually means that you are consuming more energy (food) than you use (physical activity). The most successful weight loss programs involve both diet and exercise.
Though you probably want to lose as much weight as you can quickly avoid the temptation to do it too quick. Cutting down your food intake drastically to achieve weight loss is not healthy and you are better off losing slowly. Set a goal for anywhere between two and six pounds each month. Over the course of a year this weight loss will really add up even though it doesn’t sound like a lot right now. Remember, when you are dealing with diabetes and weight issues losing as little as 5-10% of your body weight is helpful.
Making major changes in your lifestyle may seem impossible at first but remember you are talking about your long term health here. Regardless of how small your losses are they can result in health improvements by regulating blood glucose levels, lowering blood pressure and many other medical risks associated with being overweight with diabetes.
You might not be very keen on joining a gym or exercise class, but this kind of exercise program is likely to have swift results. If the gym isn’t for you, it can be amazing how much extra physical activity you can incorporate into your daily routine when you put your mind to it. Try walking instead of driving, getting off the bus one stop earlier and using the stairs instead of the lift.
You will not find a weight loss technique that does not include changing your diet. That being said you should be careful because a reduction in food can cause low blood sugar. When this happens you will need to eat to reverse your sugar drop. As you probably know there are tons of diets available and it can be hard to choose among them.
Another thing you should try is to boost your metabolism. The metabolism is the dieters best friend. Although most people do not even know it and they often do the things that cause the metabolism to slow down when they want to lose weight. This causes the body to be working against them instead of with them as it could be used.
Your metabolism is not stationary, you have all the control and you can increase or decrease your metabolic rate with your actions. Most of the time when you go on a diet you will get three pieces of advice, cut calories, cut fat and lose the snacks. These three things are the worst dieting tips you could ever receive. When you follow a plan like this you will find that the weight becomes stuck like glue and the fat will refuse to budge from your body.
There are things that you can do to speed up your metabolism. Eating regular meals is the biggest one of them all. Eating small meals every 2 or 3 hours will boost your metabolism into burning off fat faster than ever before. Make sure that the calories in each meal does not exceed your recommended daily allowance when you add them all up.
Snacking is important to losing weight effectively. Most diets will ban snacks, but this is the wrong idea. Healthy snacks will boost weight loss and increase your metabolism. Try eating fruits instead of sugary candy and other sugar laden foods.
