Resistance Training or Weight lifting?

 

Question:

I use Bodylastics to work out at home since i don’t wanna go to my school’s gym. But all my friends are saying that bodylastics wont work and only weight training will help me build muscle. Which is more effective because from what ive read, resistance training allows for more flexibility since it has hundreds of different exercises. Should i keep using bodylastics?
