I Have A Question:

Does resistance training add muscle mass, therefore causing one to lose inches instead of pounds?

  • Not all resistance training gives the same results. Know beforehand what you want to achieve, but the short answer is yes. It will build muscle and muscle will burn fat, therefore you’ll lose inches.

Here’s a great article about losing those inches and why it works the way it does.

YES! Instead of weighing yourself on a scale, see how your clothes are fitting. If they are fitting looser but you haven’t really lost any weight, you are losing fat and replacing it with muscle.

It doesn’t add muscle mass for everyone…but that could be what works for you. If you are only doing cardio you can judge your progress by the scale…but not when you are weight training also. Muscle weighs more than fat…so it is even posible to gain weight and still be able to fit into smaller sizes. Definitely judge your progress by how your clothes feel, how you look and feel, or even by measuring inches. The scale really doesn’t matter.
