Far too many people in the world today have packed on added pounds. Why are we overweight? The following outlines three varying ways that you can lose weight in a week naturally and effectively, without sacrificing your health in the process.

What’s the first plan? The human body is composed of 60% to 70% water. That means our bodies need large quantities of water to survive. Our bodies retain, or store water for future needs — the result of millions of years of evolutionary wiring. Most human beings carry an extra 5 to 8 pounds of extra weight in the form of water. By simply drinking more water, we can lose this entire amount in just a week. If you drink about a gallon of water each day, you’re body can be taught that there’s no need to retain that extra water for emergencies, and it will be released from the body.

The second plan to lose weight in a week is to change the diet to one that is completely comprised of fruits and vegetables. Green salads can consist of large amounts of food with very few calories. Not only will you take in a far lower number of calories, your daily fiber intake will be significantly increased. The fiber will help to cleanse the bowels by getting rid of much of the excess waste that is caused by eating foods that are bad for us.

Lastly, you can combine the two to lose weight in a week. Still as simple as the first two, increasing the amount of water you drink and fruits & vegetables you eat. You can supplement that diet with a reasonable portion of fish and poultry, as well as grains, for carbs and protein that your body needs. Carbohydrates are necessary to give the body the fuel it needs to burn calories, and, since your caloric intake is decreased, you will lose weight.

This third plan may prove slightly slower than other weight loss options, but it does include a more balanced approach to changing the diet that makes it possible to continue to receive the needed nutrients to keep the body going while reducing the number of calories one consumes to a level that is lower than the number of calories burned each day.

By following this balanced plan, a person can lose, on average, from 8 to 20 pounds in a week. Assuming of course that your body has that much extra weight to lose. 8 to 20 pounds is a very realistic goal, and who couldn’t afford to lose that much?
