Is working out 4-5 days per week too much?
Question:
I am talking about for a person new to exercising, but is pretty strong. I am looking to get stronger and get into shape (currently overweight and out of shape). If 4-5 days is too much for weight lifting/resistance training, then how often? That would give me 2-3 days per week of rest.

They’ll give you access to free workouts for men, women and teens. I suggest you do the men’s workout. It’s called Chiseled. Blake, the instructor, will whip your butt into shape. Since he’s doing these workouts live, he’s working out almost every day, but he’s not working the same muscle groups every day.
Depends. How much work and how many muscle groups are you training daily?
The idea here is to train each muscle group once a week (or twice if you like). So if you are distributing your muscle groups all over the week, it doesn’t matter if 3 or 6 days. It will work.

Not necessarily, but don’t do the same lifts every day. Focus on upper body one day, then legs the next, etc..You have to give your muscles time to recover or you won’t see any gains.
My best friend is massive, and he told me he sees better results when he busts his ass twice a week, rather than the people that are in the gym every day breaking down muscles that aren’t even fully recovered yet.
So if you do work out every day, make sure to at least alternate. It’d help to have a group of muscles set for each day. Also, protein shakes work great, drink one after every workout..
