If your goal is to build muscle, you’re going to need progressively more resistance. So what @Kicker Dude said about getting lower weight bands is not correct.
Click here to get Bodylastics resistance bands. They are adjustable and you’ll be able to workout your entire body. You can’t do that with dumbbells.
I’ve used P90X for the last month or so. I would definately go with the resistance bands though because buying the weights will be too expensive unless you already have a home gym. Bands are real cheap and if you get 2 five pound bands and 2 ten pound bands and 2 twenty pound bands then that’s all you really need. If you start off with 5 pounds but later move up to 15 pounds you can just use a 5 pound band and a 10 pound band and mix and match them like that.
I would go with getting a couple of all the lower weight bands. It’s all you really need.

If you have ~$300 get the bowflex select tech dumbbells. They adjust from 2.5-52.5lbs. That’s about all the weight you’ll need.
If that’s too pricey then get the resistance bands. More bang for your buck but you will not get as good of a workout as you would with dumbbells.
Good Luck
