Depends how serious you want to get. Generally you need to train at least 2 days a week. Optimal should be 3-4, unless you want to become a body builder. You need to do at least 8-10 different exercises, but avoid training the same muscle groups on consecutive days. As long as you have at least 1 days rest between muscle groups you should be ok otherwise you’ll be at risk of muscle damage.

If your doing a full body workout, every other day is too much, 3 days per week is good enough.
If your doing a split, every other day or every day is fine, like this:
Monday:Legs
Tuesday:Chest
Wednesday:Back
Thursday:Shoulders
Friday:Arms
Whichever one you do, make sure you have at least 48 hours of rest between workouts for your muscles to rebuild.
