Have you used the P90X system only using resistance bands and not dumbbells?
I’ve Got a Question:
I just got a great deal on P90X and can’t wait to use it. I have dumbbells, but wanted to start off with just resistance bands. Have you used only resistance bands during the 90-day period? What were your results?
I would use the bands while starting out until I get used to the program. Trying to prevent injury.

If anyone is thinking about buying resistance bands for the P90X, do some research first because not all bands are a good buy, high quality, or are adjustable. You want ADJUSTABLE bands, not bands with handles already attached. Click here to read these resistance bands reviews.
The first time I did P90X, I used just a resistance band for the entire first month(phase). I didn’t want to invest in dumbbells until i knew that I would stick with the program. I loved the program so much even using the bands that I ended up buying dumbbells and a pull up bar for the rest of the program.
I could not do a pull up at first, so starting off with the resistance band was a good way for me to build some strength before attempting to do pull ups.

I used Resistance Bands for an entire round of P90X and used Dumbbells for another. I enjoyed both ways as it allowed me a different feel and a bit of variety.
As far as results go I received excellent results with each approach and I intend on using the bands in conjunction with DB’s for my next round.
As a Personal Trainer I do agree with your thought process in regards to injury, the bands would be a safer way to begin your program if you are a novice in terms of lifting.
I also recommend that you use a Multi and P90x Recovery Drink with your program. This will help you maximize results and minimize soreness.
