Doing P90X Using Only Resistance Bands

i don’t want to buy expensive weights, so i was wondering if i can do P90X using only resistance bands?  Will I still get an effect workout?  I don’t want to waste my money if dumbbells will work better.

If you get the RIGHT resistance bands, yes! DO NOT get the Beach Body resistance bands. You CANNOT adjust them and they’re a 3-band wimpy set.

I suggest getting Bodylastics resistance bands. Why? They are adjustable. Click here to learn how to combine the bands. They have clips on the ends that allow you to use more than one tube at a time. And unlike dumbbells that only work the upper body, Bodylastics works the ENTIRE body because it includes not only handles, but a non-marring door anchor (no pull-up bar needed) and padded ankle straps. The door anchor allows you to exercise on different levels which mimics expensive euqipment found in the gym. They’ve also got an optional attachment called the Anywhere Anchor that you wrap around sturdy posts and small trees.

Don’t know what kinds of exercises to do with the bands? Click here for free workouts from Bodylastics. They’ve got 9 different exercise shows. You’ll NEVER have another boring workout. I suggest taking a look at the show called Chiseled. It’ll kick your butt.

You certainly can. I’ve done a full 90 days with just resistance bands and it works really well. A couple of things to consider:

    1) Make sure you have enough bands – Trying to get by with just 1 or 2 bands is hard to do because you need a wide range of resistance levels for the different workouts.

    2) Make sure you have a door anchor – You will need a way to anchor your bands to the top of a door or some other structure in order to be able to do the resistance band pull-downs that simulate the pull-up motion.

    3) Inspect and/or replace your bands regularly – Bands can only last for so long before the repeated stretch and age of the rubber makes them more fragile and they’re prone to snapping. This is especially true with the cheaper quality reisistance bands. Make sure you check them regularly and replace them if it looks like they are starting to deteriorate. Go with a name brand, like the one from Beachbody, and you’ll have bands that last longer.

    Good luck with P90X!
