okay, I understand that when you diet your metabolism slows because your losing body mass and your having a lower intake of calories. I also understand that resistance training increases metabolism because muscle is more metabolically active. So if you were on a diet while resistance training, what happens to your metabolism?

Why would you think your metabolism slows down when you diet? Are you starving yourself and throwing your body into starvation (conservation) mode? “Dieting” is about eating a balance of NUTRITIONAL foods, NOT reducing food/caloric intake.
