Yes! When you get bored of doing that workout DVD, you can get some free strength training and cardio workouts here.
You warm up your muscles and increase your heart rate by doing 5 minutes of "something" before you start a routine, right? Then work with strength moves; cardio; strength moves cardio. This
rotation insures that your heart rate and metabolism remain in the "working" zone throughout your routine. Which in turn means that fat burn continues after the workout for several hours.
Be sure to hydrate during the workout. And pre-workout/post-workout protein to help build broken down muscle fibers.
This is a very efficient use of time and energy also.
You get great benefits from working out like this. Usually you won’t be lifting with heavy weights but doing more reps. You’ll also be keeping your heart rate elevated throughout your workout so you’ll be in a better position to burn off fat. This will lead to and increase in your muscular endurance and cardiovascular conditioning because your body will have to adapt to be able to perform two stressful actions, i.e cardio and resistance training, while on a limited supply of oxygen. To make the workout more stressful, try looking into circuit training which is essentially your cardio and strength training combined in the same workout and performed at the same time. You do strength training, total body mind you, with a max of 30 seconds of rest in between each exercise. This takes care of your cardiovascular workout because in the end you will feel as winded as if you had been running the entire time. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
