About Those Light, Medium, and Heavy Resistance Bands

I was told to buy a resistance band that works best for me.
Can someone tell me how these work?
Is it by heavier resistance?
Heavier handles?

What is recommended for someone who is trying to tone up, get bigger and stronger?
Is there a certain weight that each relates too?
like light – 0
medium – 5
heavy – 10.
or anyway?

One Response to About Those Light, Medium, and Heavy Resistance Bands

  • Resistance Bands says:

Light, medium and heavy…and therein lies the problem. Light, medium and heavy to what? It’s all relative. And you were advised to buy “a band”? I hope that didn’t come from a trainer.

A single band is NOT going to give you an effective workout. What are you going to do when your muscles adapt and the exercises become to easy? Go out and buy another band? What happens if you’re already on the “heavy” band? There’s no place to go.

Also, different exercises for different muscle groups require different resistance. Which brings up another interesting fact, unless you get a set of Bodylastics resistance bands with clips on the end, you’re going to be stuck with only upper body workouts.

Bodylastics bands come with handles, a door anchor and ankle straps so you can workout your entire body. That door anchor is the best thing to come along since sliced bread because it allows you to exercise at different levels; overhead, chest, and floor level.
